For a family weekend with waterfalls nearby, Momarco Forest Cove has a pool, a man-made lagoon and function halls. Event and conference resorts

1. Pranjetto Hills

The provincial tourism office lists Pranjetto Hills in Sitio Mayagay, Barangay Sampaloc, on the Marikina-Infanta Highway, about 70 minutes from Makati or Ortigas. It has an Olympic-size swimming pool, detached air-conditioned cottages, a children's playground and a grand ballroom. Its venue listing describes a main hall for about 300 to 500 guests plus training rooms.

Best for: company outings and conventions too large for any villa. Check: which pool and cottages come with your event package.

2. Bakasyunan Resort and Conference Center

The provincial office describes Bakasyunan as a forest setting with a cool climate and panoramic views. Booking listings show two outdoor pools and a children's pool, a conference centre and banquet hall, rock climbing, ziplining and sports courts. Listings disagree on the number of rooms (38 in one, 94 in another), and guest reviews are mixed on room condition. The web address in the provincial directory no longer leads to the resort, so book through a listing or call.

Best for: seminars and church or school retreats. Check: which buildings your group is assigned to and when they were last renovated.

Family and nature resorts

3. Momarco Forest Cove Resort and Hotel

Momarco's own amenities page lists a swimming pool with a fountain, a man-made lagoon with waterfalls, poolside cabanas in four sizes, a restaurant, a café bar with KTV, a mini zoo, a playground, a sports centre and outdoor team building. Its function rooms include Laiban A and B, Sampaloc Hall, Aldea Hall and Kubo Hall. The provincial office notes a spring-water pool.

Best for: a family overnight paired with Daranak and Batlag Falls. Check: hall capacities and pet rules, which its page does not state.

Camps and team building

4. Sacramento Valley Resort

The provincial office lists Sacramento Valley in Sitio Lanai on Sampaloc Road. It began in 1982 as the "Travellers Lodge and Recreation Center" and now caters to team building, recreation, camps and adventure activities. It has no website in the directory; contact it by phone or social media.

Best for: a facilitated team-building programme. Check: what facilitation, meals and equipment the package includes.

5. Ten Cents to Heaven

Listed by the provincial office in Sitio Mayagay II, Cuyambay, on the Marikina-Infanta Highway. Its booking listing calls it a leisure camp in the mountains, with a pool and parking, check-in after 2:00 PM and check-out before 12:00 NN. One guest review reports a night when water and power ran on a generator. Do not confuse it with a hotel of the same name in Ortigas.

Best for: an outdoorsy barkada trip. Check: backup power and water, especially in the rainy season.

6. Sampaloc Inn

The provincial office lists Sampaloc Inn with family, deluxe and economy rooms, all air-conditioned, non-smoking and pet-free. It suits hikers who want a simple room before an early trail.

A nearby alternative: a whole villa in Binangonan

Tanay's resorts share their pools and grounds with other guests. If your group of 20 to 30 wants a pool to itself, City on a Hill in Binangonan rents each of its three villas whole, with an infinity plunge pool, jacuzzi and kitchen, and Daranak Falls is about 24 km away by road. A Tanay morning at the falls or Masungi fits before the 3:00 PM check-in. For a team retreat, compare a camp with a villa in our team retreat guide, or see what fits groups of 20 to 80.
